eu tenho me perguntado de maneira mais aprofundada sobre a existência disso tudo. Acho que eu tenho uma certa nostalgia por um tempo em que a MetaReciclagem reunia uma dúzia de pessoas dispostas a fazer coisas juntas. Hoje a lista metarec tem 368 pessoas, e pouco ou nada se articula por aqui.

Faz sentido buscar um nexo, tentar encontrar pontos em comum e possibilidades de ação conjunta? Será que ainda é possível articular a idéia de 'comunidade' distribuída ou isso é coisa de 2001?

Em algum momento de 2003 eu montei o Liganóis, um site colaborativo para pessoas interessadas em comunicação comunitária, inclusão digital e assuntos relacionados. O site acabou saindo do ar depois de algum tempo, mas o aprendizado foi grande. A idéia desse texto, que escrevi no fim de 2003, era tentar contar um pouco do processo que gerou o Liganóis.

Sunday morning I woke up in Berlin with my mind telling me I should change some things in my presentation at transmediale. I started to play with the text and eventually got rid of almost everything I have written before, because I thought there was something way more important than repeating the common web 2.0 criticism: it is a stock market hype; it weakens p2p while centralizes traffic in order to earn profit out of users' ability to create and maintain relationships; and so on. Not that I disagree with that kind of criticism, but I don't think I have much to add to that. There's a great article by Dmytri Kleiner & Brian Wyrick in Mute about that. Now, my impression is that sometimes the criticism is totally focused in the business model and in the fact that somebody is making money out of it, and it is not the users. I personally don't care as much about amateur video producers making money as I care about trying to create communication technologies that feel more human. And that should be the starting point to what I have tried to speak at the panel. Below is the script I wrote in the couple of hours before the panel (and during a part of my colleagues' talk, I must admit). It is far from objective or polished, and I have the feeling I might have slipped away from the topic, but it is a beginning. In the following days I might add some new thoughts to it...

Ubiquitous computing?

Totally ubiquitous computing. One of the things our grandchildren will find quaintest about us is that we distinguish the digital from the real, the virtual from the real. In the future, that will become literally impossible. The distinction between cyberspace and that which isn't cyberspace is going to be unimaginable. When I wrote Neuromancer in 1984, cyberspace already existed for some people, but they didn't spend all their time there. So cyberspace was there, and we were here. Now cyberspace is here for a lot of us, and there has become any state of relative nonconnectivity. There is where they don't have Wi-Fi.

In a world of superubiquitous computing, you're not gonna know when you're on or when you're off. You're always going to be on, in some sort of blended-reality state. You only think about it when something goes wrong and it goes off. And then it's a drag.

Tava aqui lendo mais um pouco, e respondendo a uma conversa por emails muito boa com o Çtalker, e uma questão que apareceu ali no meio é uma coisa que já me incomodou bastante: como criar uma cultura de documentação. Nenhuma resposta possível, só alguns sinais de que as coisas demoram. Mesmo. Mas por fim chegam a acontecer. Tenho ficado bastante feliz em ver que os projetos desenvolvidos pelo Dalton e equipe da eCommunita incorporaram essa preocupação, e têm criado um monte de blogs e publicado vídeos e fotos (cujas fontes, claro, eu tenho adicionado ao agregador da metareciclagem). E encontro ali um eco da minha insistência, das numerosas discussões com o Dalton. E aí pensando tudo isso fui ver a fila de moderação do blogue aqui e encontrei o comentário do Régis no meu post anterior, dizendo "vc me ensinou a importancia de documetar tudo..... documentar.. documentar... valeu!!!!".

E olhei pro sol lá fora e fiquei feliz com o domingo. Valeu Dalton, eCommunita e Regis.
