Comentando então as leituras da semana. Usando livros daquele jeito promíscuo, abre aqui, lê ali, relê o outro, volta três capítulos, anda até a última página, fecha tudo e vai embora.

In the Shade of the Commons - publicado pela plataforma waag-sarai. Os primeiros textos são muito bons. Principalmente a Delhi declaration of a new context for new media e a Letter to the Commons. Alguns pedaços:

"a more grounded view of the place of digital media would require us to go beyond the naiive celebratory rhetoric that sees the mere placement of computers and digital tools in the hands of under priviledged and underserved actors as sufficient conditions for the cultivation of a sensibility of digital creativity within society The important question to ask is not whether the majorities of societies are deprived of digital tools, or are on the 'wanting' side of the 'digital divide' but to question what people can do, and what they actualize when they gain access. Here we are clearly emphasizing content and process more than simply presence of and access to ICT."

"You can only steal something if it is owned by someone in the firstplace. If things are not 'owned' but only held in custody, then they' can only be 'borrowed' as opposed to being stolen. So what you call a 'pirated' DVD is what we would call a DVD 'borrowed' from the street, and the price we pay for it is equivalent, or at least analogous to an incremental subscription to the great circulating public library of the Asiatic street."

Aí seguindo por aqueles cantos, peguei o Sarai Reader #03. Toda a seção Leverages é muito ph0d4. Parei por enquanto no começo da Registrations. Coisa boa.

Peguei pra ver também o Nativo Relativo, do Viveiros de Castro, interessante pra relativizar umas coisas. E continuei lendo mais um pouco da dissertação do Miguel. No meio-tempo, pegando também uns quadrinhos daqui que o Mapuche descola no trampo.

Atualizando: o In the shade of the commons também tem um artiguete de Geert Lovink não maior que um par de páginas, esboçando uma perspectiva crítica sobre redes e redes abertas e redes livres. Não chega a nenhum ponto específico, mas levanta algumas questões. Vou ver se encontro alguma documentação das conversas que rolaram no evento que ele organizou sobre o tema, New Network Theory.

Atualizando de novo: pois é, apressado não come... no fim das contas, o artiguete do Geert é só a introdução pra toda uma seção do livro falando sobre teoria de redes. Bem interessante é um artigo de Jamie King versando sobre gang power. Dá pra baixar o PDF do reader inteiro aqui.
