A estética na chamada Era das Conversações. Como o indivíduo de um mundo interconectado relaciona-se com o complexo repertório estético que o cerca? Novas posibilidades surgem para esses tempos. Temos um cenário em que é iminente a emergência de uma inteligência coletiva, que entretanto não pode mais ser definida como uma cultura de massa, à medida em que, como pretendia Enzensberger, todo indivíduo é simultaneamente emissor e receptor de mensagens. Mais do que simplesmente enviar e receber, cada um pode também publicar suas idéias, de maneira que os outros podem ver uma evolução histórica de seu trabalho. Além disso, as ferramentas para a produção de signos que podem ser reconhecidos como informação estética estão praticamente à disposição de qualquer um que tenha acesso à Internet e disposição em aprender (tutoriais online já ensinam de tudo). E, deve-se acrescentar, os weblogs acrescentam à fórmula uma usabilidade enorme, uma vez que são acessíveis através da mesma interface que o usuário costuma utilizar para navegar na Internet.

Paralelamente, a reflexão crítica vai ganhando espaço, à medida em que as comunidades online e a linkania dos bloggers permitem que vários indivíduos interessados em temas relacionados tenham canais diretos de comunicação, de maneira desterritorializada e assíncrona e, melhor ainda, sem depender de um editor. Evolui uma adaptação da filosofia open source (cessão das limitações dos direitos autorais em prol do coletivo) também à produção científica e criativa.
