If in the first actions we could think of MetaReciclagem as an effort dedicated to
providing infrastructure for people in need of it, time has shown us that the focus
was not exactly that. Often, the infrastructure we have provided lacked stability
and a qualitative concern with the content accessed by its users. The process
of developing MetaReciclagem as an open infrastructure, though, has proved
itself a very positive movement in the perspective of finding people with the
potential to make an innovative use of technology and empowering them providing
a pro-active network of experts in different areas, open and accessible tools to
communicate with that network, and a growing repository of useful knowledge
in those areas. Another perspective is that MetaReciclagem itself transformed,
from a group of people concerned with re-manufcturing computers, to an open
network dedicated to foster a different kind of sensibility for the relations
between people and technologies. This positioning, as an open and accessible
network, has brought us a number of other issues as well: how to keep the
innovation and the exchange running in a fluid organization, composed by
people with very different interests, backgrounds, skills and dreams. We're
still trying to figure that out.
