Gear Factor

With the exception of a handful of companies still managing to make money by charging people for Wi-Fi access in public places, pretty much everyone wants wireless to be free — or at least cheap enough to feel free. With that in mind, a gadget maker named Julian Bleeker has designed the WiFi.Bedouin. With a built-in 802.11b wireless access point, this backpack lets users share data, music, and other content over small areas. However, this design doesn’t include an Internet connection, so it’s only good for local sharing, which means it’s not likely to serve as a legitimate hotspot alternative for anyone who actually needs to get real work done while traveling.
